Monday, Jan. 30

Highlights:

  • In Math, we reviewed the stack it (algorithm) strategy for solving addition and subtraction equations. Ask me to show you how to use this strategy to solve 95 - 43= and 22 + 45 =
  • For Literacy, we continued to learn about inferencing. We know that this is a skill that good readers use to help understand stories. We read a wordless picture book called Journey. Ask me what inferences I made and the evidence I used from the story to support my thinking.
  • For PE, we played scooter basketball. It was a fun twist to basketball and many of us had a great time!

  • In Art, we learned about another famous painter named Andy Warhol. We learned he is famous for a style of paintings called pop art. We started creating our own pop art landscape.
  • Today for Makerspace, we worked on a building challenge. We looked at landmarks unique to Peru and Calgary. We worked in teams to recreate different landmarks.

Reminders:

  • Report Cards are available to view online today.
  • On Wednesday, Feb. 1 we will be going on a community walk. We will be walking as a class to the painted murals on the fences along Coventry Hills Blvd. Students are reminded to dress for the weather and prepared to be out for a part of our afternoon. We will be leaving the school at 1:45pm and returning by 2:20pm.
