Monday October 17

 Highlights

  • This morning we started our day with a Zoom call hosted by 'Take Me Outside'.  The topic was: 'The Importance of Plant Knowledge' and the presenter was Joe Pitawanakwat.  We were only able to watch 2/3 of the plants he discussed.  One was Willow Trees and the other was St. John's Wart.  Ask me what made these two special.  (Hint: the willow tree has natural antifreeze and St.John's Wart helps with the sunshine vitamin)
  • For Literacy we wrapped up an activity we started on Friday talking about adjectives.  We were to choose our favourite food, draw a mind map of a few adjectives that applied and then write a few detailed sentences on that food.  Ask me what food I chose and how I described it.

  • This afternoon we had Science where we used gumballs to compare rocks and minerals.  Ask me how we connected these two things!
  • We also had a fire drill this afternoon where our class was safe, serious and silent and we followed our evacuation map perfectly! Ask me if I have any worries relating to this.
  • To wrap up the day we went outside for take me outside day and played in the beautiful sunshine.  We also talked about how our story this morning outlined how important sunshine is for our bodies and depending on where we live this is sometimes impacted by winter! Ask me what my favourite part of the playground is
